Felt, EPDM or GRP fibreglass: which flat roof is best?
Each has its place. Three-layer torch-on felt is the traditional, economical option. EPDM rubber gives a seamless, flexible membrane that copes well with movement. GRP fibreglass is hard-wearing, seamless and ideal where the roof will be walked on. We will recommend the right system for your roof and budget rather than a one-size-fits-all fix.
How long does a flat roof last?
Properly installed, a felt roof will typically give 15 to 20 years, and EPDM and GRP systems 25 years or more. Our GRP work is backed by a 25-year guarantee, and every system we install is fitted to UK building standards.
Can a flat roof be repaired rather than replaced?
Often, yes. If the deck is sound and the problem is a split, a blister or a failed lap or upstand, a repair will usually do the job. If the deck has gone soft or water is trapped in the build-up, replacement is the better option. We will tell you which after a free inspection.
Can you add a roof light to a flat roof?
Yes. We can install flat-roof windows and sun tunnels as part of a new flat roof or into an existing one, with the upstands and flashings formed properly so the roof stays watertight.
