Vertical tiling, or tile hanging, adds character, weather protection and insulation to walls and elevations. It is a traditional finish we have been applying to Surrey homes for decades.
As well as looking the part on period and new-build properties alike, tile hanging shields exposed walls from driving rain and can be combined with external wall insulation.

We hang concrete and machine-made or hand-crafted clay tiles to gable ends, elevations, bays and feature panels, with decorative courses and detailing where you want them. Every job is battened, felted and finished to last.

What is vertical tiling?
Also known as tile hanging, it is the traditional method of hanging clay or concrete tiles on a wall or elevation rather than a roof. It is common across Surrey and the Weald on gable ends, upper storeys, bays and feature panels.
Can you match the hanging tiles already on my house?
Yes. We work with concrete tiles and machine-made or hand-crafted clay tiles, and we source reclaimed tiles where a period match is needed, so a repair or extension blends in with the original.
Does tile hanging improve weather protection or insulation?
Both. Hanging tiles shield exposed walls from driving rain, and the batten cavity behind them can be combined with external wall insulation to improve the thermal performance of the wall.
Can you repair a small section of vertical tiling?
Yes. Slipped, cracked or missing hanging tiles can be replaced individually, and we can re-batten and re-hang a section where the fixings or felt behind have failed.
