Roof window questions, answered
Do I need planning permission for a Velux window?
Usually not. Roof windows normally fall under permitted development provided they do not project more than 150mm beyond the roof plane and are not on a listed building or in certain protected areas. We will let you know if your property is one of the exceptions.
Can I get natural light into a room with no direct roof access?
Yes. A Velux sun tunnel channels daylight from the roof down a reflective tube into a landing, bathroom or hallway below, and can be fitted into pitched or flat roofs.
Do you supply the windows as well as fit them?
Yes. We supply and fit genuine Velux roof windows, sun tunnels and balcony windows, complete with the correct flashing kit for your roof covering.
Will a roof window leak?
